Nearly 200 Daughters of Charity from 78 Provinces have gathered at the Motherhouse in Paris for the 2009 General Assembly. A very important event in the life of the Company, the Assembly will elect a Superioress General and the members of the General Council, as well as drawing up plans of action for the coming six years. Presiding over the Assembly is Fr Gregory Gay CM, in his capacity as Superior General. His role is to review how things have gone since the last Assembly in 2003, and to promote fidelity to the charism of the Company.

The theme of this Assembly is 'Prophecy and Hope, now and everywhere'. During these special weeks the Company will reflect upon its future thrust and direction for the next six years in terms of: Fidelity to its charism; its service of vulnerable people; its spiritual life and the life lived by its members in community.
Before officially beginning the Assembly, the Sisters were guided in a silent retreat by Fr Javier Alvarez CM. And right through the weeks of the Assembly the attendants, comprising members of the General Council, Visitatrices and Delegates, will be supported by the prayer of well-wishers from all around the world.
A series of slideshow videos from the General Assembly can be viewed on the Filles de la Charité website.
