Glenmaroon community celebrated PDF Print E-mail

On Tuesday 13th October many present and past colleagues joined the Daughters of Charity in Holy Angels Glenmaroon to remember with thanksgiving 58 years of life and service in this beautiful place. The local community of 5 sisters are leaving at the end of this month to live elsewhere but they will remain involved in the work of the house.

This special evening began with an introduction and welcome by Sr. Catherine Prendergast D.C., provincial of the Daughters of Charity who welcomed everyone and said that it was with a certain amount of sadness but also with gratitude that we give thanks to God for 58 years of the sisters presence in Glenmaroon.

Sr. Bernadette will remain as principal of St. Michael’s school while the other sisters will continue to work for those with intellectual disability in Glenmaroon. Fr. Eamon Flanagan, director of the Irish province of the Daughters of Charity, was the main celebrant for this Eucharistic Celebration. He was joined by the parish priest Rev. Martin Daly and his curate Fr. James Sommers, from Chapelizod parish.

After the beautiful ceremony, the guests were invited to a light buffet and refreshments in the main house as people gathered to remember and recall many stories and happy memories of times they had spent in the community of Glenmaroon.

We wish all the sisters well in the move from Glenmaroon community at the end of this month and we pray that their work may continue for many years to come.
